Wat Mahathat, located in Ayutthaya Historical Park, is one of the most important temples from the Ayutthaya period. It was built during the reign of King Borommarachathirat I (around 1374 AD) and was once the center for religious activities, housing sacred relics of the Buddha. Today, Wat Mahathat is a major tourist attraction, best known for the iconic Buddha head entwined in tree roots.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet, located in Ayutthaya Historical Park, was the most important royal temple during the Ayutthaya period. It was built during the reign of King Borommatrailokkanat in 1448. The temple had no resident monks as it was part of the royal palace grounds. Wat Phra Si Sanphet is famous for its three large stupas that house the ashes of several Ayutthayan kings.
Rak Na Café is a serene café located amidst the rice fields of Ayutthaya.
